error during booting up

Hello, I get an error during bootup that says "primary master hard disk error. Press F1 to resume". I press F1 and the computer works fine. Should I be concerned? In addition, I am unable to enter safemode using F8. I can get into safemode using msconfig/bootini but I am unable to get network support (internet) via this method of safeboot.

Thanks, John
