Wireless net stops working when laptop is plugged into wall socket

I finished setting up my niece's Acer Aspire 3680 Laptop with an Atheros AR5005G wireless network card. It runs WINXP Media Center edition. Works fine unitl you plug the laptop into the wall to recharge, knocks the wireless internet off everytime. Is this normal? Not real familiar with wireless networks.

Hi there,

From my experience using a laptop, this is the first time i have heard a laptop disconnect its wireless when its plugged in to the wall to recharge. I suggest you as the manufacturer and see if they advice you on it.

Please let me know how you go.

never heard of this happening either.

make sure you are using a surge protector, try another outlet, maybe the outlet is bad causing interference. Maybe use an outlet closer to the router.

Check start/control panel/power options.
There may be 2 profiles setup and the profile
for AC power may be turning it off.

Thats a good point. Sometimes when switching between battery and AC your internal NIC is deactivated.
