Windows XP Problem solving for the Windows XP Operating System

Windows task manager

WHen i open the task managr and go to processes my System Idle Process is alway between 70-80 even when im playing games or searching the web. Im pretty sure this shouldn't be happening. is there anyway i can stop this??

system idle process ....the higher the better. it means your system is idle waiting for something to do and thats good

ok i just tryed somethingm, i closed all windows and everything and left task manager open. And my CPU usage is always between 50-80%. Thats with nothing open!

I have 256 Mb ram.
