hey guys.. i've been having problem with my laptop lately. Its a Pemtium M 1.4, 256 MB DDR. Still, when ever i try to run 3-4 programs at a time, it tends to slow down considerably. Also, the start-up is extremely slow... i mean if once logged on in a user account, it takes almost 4-5 minutes to respond. I've checked the start-up options from msconfig n removed all unnecessary start-up applications too. But still its slow. I dont kno if i'm into a correct forum but i guess u ppl can help me out. just to add.. my C:\ shows more used disk space than it actually is.. and it keepes on varing from 900 mbs to 1.8 GBs time to time..?? what could be the problem??

There is no malware in you log so all I can suggest is that you run Ewido and see if the cleanup helps.Other than that, I suggest you get help from the XP forum.....

Download Ewido Security Suite and do a scan when you first go into Safe Mode

Start by putting HJT in SAFE MODE. During reboot, tap the F8 key. Select Safe Mode and then run "Hijack This"

Install Ewido Security Suite.
When installing, under 'Additional Options' uncheck: "Install background guard" and "Install scan via context menu"

To open the main screen double click the icon on the desktop.

You will get a warning 'Database could not be found!'.(only if no updated have first been installed) Click OK.

Update to the latest definition files.On the left of the main screen click Update.Then click on Start Update.Let it complete the updates.

Now Click on Scanner and Click on Complete System Scan and the scan will start.

During some scans it may find cases of false positives so you will need to step through the process of cleaning files one-by-one.

If a file is detected you KNOW to be legitimate, select None as the action. Do NOT select 'Perform action on all infections'

If you are unsure of any entry found play safe and select None as the action.
