Using two inputs on a flat panel monitor?
Hey all!
I just got a new PC with a flat panel monitor. This new monitor, a Dell E228WFP, has two inputs. A DVI for a digital input and a VGA for an analog input. I have the XPS410 (new pc) video card connected to this monitor via the DVI connection. I have an older Dell Dimension 8100 (older pc) that has a VGA output from its video card. Is it safe for the monitor if I connect them both to it at the same time and then switch by using the mode button? I have them connected that way now and it works, but it has me wondering if both connectors "live" would damage or strain the monitor in any way. Thoughts? |

No damage, no strain. The monitor is designed to allow only one signal in at a time even if both ports (DVI VGA) are in use.
