computer keeps shutting off

Hello Everyone

Hope you are all healthy and safe! Here's my problem - the computer shuts down on it's own, seemingly for no apparent reason - I have a core temp monitoring app and my core temps are good - it may be my video card overheating - would this cause this problem of random shutdowns - I don't have an app for monitoring my video card - does anyone have a link to an app that I can install to monitor my video card heat - what else do you suggest I look into?

If you suspect that it’s your video card causing the problem you might want to shutdown the computer, and connect your monitor to the integrated video port on your motherboard using the proper cable. Turn on your computer, and get into BIOS and change it to use integrated video. Use the computer like that, and see if that corrects the problem. If it doesn’t then at least you eliminated the video card.

Thank you so much for your response - however, just to note that it is already an integrated video card - however it does have a fan on it to cool it - any other ideas - thanks so much - Jim

Most computers come with onboard video for people who don't need a dedicated video card. This is what I meant by integrated video.

Thanks for your responses. To answer your question it is actually a home built PC using a G1.SNIPER 5 motherboard and it has an integrated video card. I was just wondering if there was an app to monitor video card temps since that doesn't show up on my cpu core temp app. BTW my cpu core temps are around 100F to 116F resting and it jumps to around 140F to 150F when opening and closing apps. My GF is on a group video chat right now and the temps are around 140F. I thought this might be the problem, but somehow I don't think so.

Ok I just downloaded Speedfan and there is GPU monitoring going on. I remembered using this app many years ago, but became estranged from computers as my life changed.
And yeah IPR512 I just set up dual boot on my bedroom PC with Win 10 and Win 7, because some apps seem to not like Win 10.

140 to 150 degrees fahrenheit is 60 to 65 degrees celsius. May be too hot, depending on which processor your running.

Processor Avg Temp under full load

I3 50c - 60c
I5 50c - 62c
I7 50c - 65c

Ok I'll have to check the cpu load. On a second note The Speedfan GPU monitor does not seem to show up on my GF's PC. It does however show up on mine maybe because I have an actual video card and not onboard like the one that's giving me the problems.
