How to overwrite .dll's used by explorer...
I have to overwrite 2 .dll files in system32 to complete a driver installation but of course vista says I cant.
And I loaded up process explorer and both .dll's are being used by explorer.. I killed explorer but NOW I cant browse system32 to overwrite those .dll files! (I already moved the .dll files there and renamed em) waiting for a reply! thanls. |

Windows File Protection (WFP) prevents programs from replacing critical Windows system files.
Try it in SAFE MODE. |

Wow.. I was just able to trick VISTA with this.. and this goes for EVERYONE as well...
Lets say you need to replace .dll files or .exe files or anyfile you cant normally overwrite... Taskmanager / End process: explorer.exe / click Application tab / new task / BROWSE to the folder were you moved your .NEWdll files or .NEWexe files and delete the oringinals and rename the extension .NEWdll to .dll and .NEWexe to .exe Sometimes I think I shouldnt ask a question but it had me stumped for a while. |
